  • Already more than 20 percent energy and carbon emissions saved in selected properties of Real I.S.
  • Use of Recogizer’s services planned for the asset classes Office, Retail and Hotel held in the international portfolio of Real I.S.

Munich, Germany, 23 February 2023 – In 2023 Real I.S. broadens its existing partnership with the green-tech firm Recogizer, and thus takes another step towards its goal to have a carbon neutral portfolio in 2045.

Real I.S. has been relying on artificial intelligence (AI) assisted control of technical building services for sustainable building operation since 2021. Recognizer’s self-learning system automatically reduces the carbon footprint of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, enabling quick and flexible implementation of energy-saving measures and taking account of environmental, social and governance (ESG) related aspects. Following the achievement of important initial milestones, such as a 20 percent energy and emissions reduction in a German shopping centre and in an office building, the collaboration is being significantly broadened and an agreement is due to be reached on a further rollout of the solution.

To achieve these objectives, Recogizer first creates a digital representation of a building. The system then learns about the behaviour of the building and its systems, and takes on the predictive control of the systems to reduce energy consumption and emissions by an average of more than 20 percent. Finally, the intelligent service includes individual support with engineering expertise. The service has been recognised by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and is taken into consideration for the scoring of building certifications such as the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).
